What is Erectile Dysfunction?
Erectile Dysfunction is the failure to achieve or maintain an erection firm enough for satisfactory sexual intercourse.
Over 95% of men between the ages of 40 and 70 suffer from some form of erectile dysfunction. Men are conditioned from young boys to believe that this condition belittles their manhood and many choose to suffer in silence, believing they are alone. Every man matters and it doesn’t have to be this way. Many men who take the right choices have a lasting and sustained sex life ahead of them.
Why is it happening to me?
There are many reasons you may be suffering from erectile dysfunction:
- Lower Testosterone Levels
- High Blood Cholesterol
- Cardiac Disease
- Illicit Drug Use
- Excessive alcohol consumption and smoking
- Prostate issues
- Prescription medication side effects
- Stress, anxiety, relationship issues
As with any medical condition you should first see your GP to see whether you need treatment for other medical conditions.
How your penis functions
A man’s penis is normally in a state of being flaccid. A man achieves an erection by electrical impulses in his mind causing his blood to rush up two tubes that are situated to the left and right hand shaft of the penis (corpus carvernosum) The pressure of this blood flow forces the penis to become erect. With erectile dysfunction a man’s body no longer stimulates this blood flow in sufficient quantity to force the penis rigid.
